The dawn of a new day

What is it about the sunrise and sunset that causes our soul to stir?

When I ponder something, I like to close my eyes and picture ‘the thing’ and then feel what my body feels like. When I picture the dawn, I almost always feel myself take a big breath without telling myself to do it.

So, why don’t I go outside everyday and watch the sunrise?

Because I have a kid at home and a husband that is off swimming before it is desirable or appropriate to have an alarm set.

I have a porch that faces the sunrise.

Wait, what?

I can watch the sunrise without getting a babysitter, without going to the beach?

Most of us don’t have a beach within driving distance do we? Why reserve the epic sunrise only for those Hawaiian vacations that cost $6k for a family of 3.

I can see the sunrise everyday. I forget that I can. Mostly, we all do.

Until I remember.

This journey across the Pacific Ocean is not one about transformation

Trans-for-ma-tion - a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance.

I didn’t need this. None of us do. We need to remember… we need to remember what it’s like to feel fully alive. This blog is me sharing my remembering…because I have forgotten.
